Listening
Famous talkshow host Larry King "I never learn a thing while I'm talking." His golden rule - listen --> with ears + mind + heart.
Make notes in advance what questions to ask, but the best questions usu come after listening carefully to something in your interviewee's response.
We do not just hear --> listen.
1) Close-ended question: are, do, who, when, where, which.
2) Open-ended: what, how, why, in what way, tell me about, what if
3 Rules:
1) Pay attention
2) Ask open-ended questions
3) Be yourself
--------------------
Abraham Lincoln
- once said "Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt".
--> Do not fear silence.
There are many things you can pick up about another person by watching and listening.
--> Just be yourself and feeling comfortable in your own skin is not always as easy as it sounds. But in the end --> that's what customers really buy -- and that's what you should always be selling.
