Feedback

... is about learning, continuous improvement and doing things differently.
Goal - encourage recipient of the feedback to move forward by learning, growing and changing.


  • It is not a form of punishment, not necessarily negative.
  • Not a one-way monologue.
  • Does not need to be a wrestling match.
  • Not an opportunity for personal attack.
  • Does not represent the only point of view.

What feedback IS: giving and receiving feedback in a learning setting is a critical part of managing learners, interacting with them and listening to them. It:
  • fosters positive change and increases self-awareness
  • reinforces preferred behavior
  • improves unsatisfactory behavior.

IMPORTANT because constructive feedback helps to 
  • reinforce / encourage an effective way of working.
  • prepare for better performance.
  • contribute to learning and developing.
